In Germany alone, 8.5 million people are living with diabetes, and alarmingly, 2 million of these cases remain undiagnosed. This is part of a global healthcare crisis, with Type 2 diabetes mellitus affecting approximately 425 million people worldwide.*
Type 2 diabetes is primarily caused by lifestyle and genetic factors, particularly obesity and physical inactivity, with risks increasing with age. If left untreated, it can lead to serious complications, including kidney and eye damage, dialysis, blindness, and an increased risk of heart disease and strokes.
Early detection and intervention are therefore crucial.
This highlights the importance of home testing. Busy lifestyles in younger patients and mobility issues, especially among the elderly, can make regular doctor visits challenging. Home testing services provide a practical solution, enabling earlier detection of conditions like diabetes and addressing the silent 2 million undiagnosed cases that require attention.
