Easy steps to a successful blood test.

Materials overview

Open the kit in a quiet, clean place and prepare all its components. It is especially important to open the alcohol swab, compress, and pflaster packaging prior to specimen collection because there is no time to do so during specimen collection.

Prepare

Wash your hands thoroughly (at least 20 seconds) with soap and rub your hands for about 1 minute to help blood flow in your fingers. Make sure that your hands are warm, this is extremely important for a successful sample collection.

INFO

Finger Choice

Use only your middle or ring finger to collect the specimen because collecting specimens from these fingers is safest and least painful. If you are right-handed, it is recommended that you use the fingers of your left hand and vice versa.

2

Disinfect

Disinfect the entire fingertip with the alcohol swab. Wait a few seconds for the fingertip to dry.

Prick

Prick the finger by pressing the lancet firmly against the side of your fingertip. You should hear a click and feel a slight push.

4

Stimulate Circulation

To make a nice drop of blood form on your finger, gently rub your finger from your palm to your fingertip.

Remove

Remove the first drop of blood with the sterile compress.

6

Apply

Use the dry blood spot card and apply another drop of blood to a circle on the card. Touch the circle only with the blood drop, not with your fingertip. Be sure to produce a nice circle that penetrates the card. Produce at least 2 circles.

Press

After drawing blood, gently press on the wound with the sterile compress and wait for the bleeding to stop. This should not take longer than 2 - 5 minutes.

Cover

Then cover the wound with the enclosed pflaster. This will protect you and your surroundings from possible infection.

Dry

Dry the dry blood spot card for at least 1 hour after treating the wound in a dry, clean environment. The sample can also be dried for longer. (Please do not put on the heater or similar external heat sources).

10

Clean

When you are finished, clean the surface where you collected the sample with a commercial household cleaner to remove (micro) blood droplets.

NOTE

It is normal that the blood collection does not work on the first try. In this case, try the previous steps again with the reserve material.
